Lake Superior Sizzles: Monster Chinook & Mixed Bag Bonanza

Hot bite and happy crew! Summer fishing on Lake Superior out of Knife River Marina was in full swing as I took Jeremy and their crew out for an afternoon half-day trip with Waypoint Charters. Clear conditions greeted us as we set out from the Knife River, perfect for targeting a mix of species. The water looked prime for some action as we headed to our first spot.

Once the stage was set, we got down to business with a mix of trolling, jigging, and live bait fishing. These techniques really paid off as we worked the lake. We managed to hook into a nice variety - Coho Salmon, Walleye, Chinook Salmon, Lake Trout, and Rainbow Trout all made appearances. The highlight reel included a 15-inch Coho, a 19-inch Walleye, and an impressive 39-inch Lake Trout. But the real showstopper was a monster 63-inch Chinook Salmon that gave us quite the battle. It was one of those catches that reminds you why Lake Superior is such a special fishery. We wrapped up the trip with smiles all around, a cooler full of fish, and some great memories made on the water.
